Production of the newest "map of administrative divisions" in the National Cartographic Center of IRAN (NCC)

According to NCC report, by the Article 26 of the Regulations of the Law on Definitions and Criteria of the Administrative Divisions of the Islamic Republic of Iran (approved by the parliament on July 6, 1983), publication of maps and official pamphlets containing names, boundaries, borders, acronyms, specific signs and coding for villages and towns and other units of administrative divisions which are prepared by all organizations, both public and private, are subject to the approval of the Ministry of Interior.
 
Accordingly, Engineer Massoud Shafiei the Director General  of NCC, in a second letter in May 2020 to Dr. Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli the Minister of the Interior, presented the newest "map of the administrative divisions" prepared in NCC at the scale of 1: 1500.000, based on the latest information of 2019 and the last general census of the country in 2016, to obtain the approval of the Ministry.

The international borders of the country, borders of the provinces, counties and districts, capitals of the provinces, permanent and seasonal lakes, flood prone areas, etc. are specified in this map.

It also contains tables of geographical specifications (such as area and altitiude of each province, urban areas, etc.) and demographic indicators (such as gender, residence population, literacy rate, family size, etc.) which are separately presented for each province.

Another table attached to this map, is the ranking of the provinces based on area and population, a copy of which was submitted to the Ministry of Interior for approval.

This map was reviewed with close cooperation of Cartography and National Atlases department of NCC experts and the Administrative Divisions Office of the Ministry of Interior experts and after final control, elimination of contradictions and necessary corrections, was finally approved on 13/06/2020 and signed and referred to NCC by Dr. Saeed Jalali, the Director General of the Administrative Divisions Office of the Ministry of Interior.

In his note below this map, Jalali has written: "The boundaries of the administrative divisions included in this map by March of 2019, is here approved.

It should be noted that, with coordination between NCC and the Ministry of Interior and based on the defined procedures, publication and print of any new and update version of the Administrative Divisions Map, must be formally approved by the Director General of Administrative Divisions Office of the Ministry of Interior.
